TWO WHALES PROJECT
MIXED MEDIA ART
DESCRIPTION
I took a couple of whales that I sketched into center cutouts from old photo mat boards and developed their scans into multiple mixed media art pieces.
In one of them I developed the whales in monochrome and strategically placed them around my architectural photography work. And in another, I saturated their colors to prep them for a holographic skateboard design.
BRIEF
The driving force behind this project was to create tangible art pieces, varying in style and medium, from the same simple sketches.
IMPACTS/AWARDS
- One piece of content was displayed at the
Glenwood Springs Library in Glenwood Springs, CO.
- Both pieces of content were sold to art collectors.

VERSIONS/TESTING
Perfect alignment was necessary for this mockup. And it actually needed to be adjusted slightly after the first test print.
WHAT WENT WRONG...
In retrospect, I wish I would’ve pushed my borders all the way to the bleed lines on the bottom of this piece before it was hung and sold. However, at least it is a very minor preference discrepancy, and not a major, technically damaging mistake.
